Update on Current
Events
April 15, 2009
Hi Im Dennis, Dots husband and Co-director of Belize
Outreach.
In our last update,
March 27, 2009, I dealt on journey and all the trials she had getting to Tea
Kettle Village in the Cayo District of
Belize..
This update will be
short, but a lot is happening. This week, Dot and Rose will visit Hatteville
Prison, south of Belize City to do ministry. I have done prison ministry there
myself, both when with YWAM, but also as part of Belize Outreach. This prison holds a section for men, a
section for women and for youth. These people need Jesus and to know someone
care about them.
Also they will be doing street ministry in the Village of Tea
Kettle. Last of all they will be going to the hospital in Belmopan (capital of
Belize) to minister to those in need.
our
In What is Belize
Outreach All About? we talk about our goals. One so dear to our hearts, is the
Christian Pre-School. Next week, Belizian volunteers will start the
foundation for the school. Praise
God! Please pray that funds will soon come in so by next fall (start of school year),
we could began teaching and nourishing young lives in Belize.

Have been busy since
arriving here in Belize. Rose and I have been on the go all of the time day and
night.
Now! On the Precious
Jewels Christian pre-school, we did get the ground dug out and are going to get
steel in the next two or three weeks. There is one small problem and that is in
the middle of what is to be the foundation there is a great big rock. We have
had all kinds of advice on how to get rid of or even how to live with it. Rose
and I are praying which way to go
on this. In the next few weeks we will be getting steel for the making of the
foundation.
Sitting still is not
active mission work. We have been real busy working with the church Wednesday evenings doing street meetings
in different villages. We have been visiting people in Tea Kettle Village and
ministering to them as led by the Lord. We will also be getting together with
all of the different churches, overseen by Pastor Hann, next month for the
annual convention. This is a one day thing, but a lot of things must to come
together for this all to happen in just one day. This will consist of cooking
for about three hundred people plus. Rose and I will be helping out with our
church (Philadelphia Church). Then there is the cleaning, plus we will have to
prepare a skit. Then there is all of that shopping for the meal.
Next week we will be
going on a trip with the local school children here in Tea Kettle Village. The
children are six and eight year olds. This is a open door for the children and
us as it will help us to be more involved with the families in the village and
for us all to be more acquainted. Please pray for more open doors that will lead
to salvation and for opportunities to occur that are divine appointments.
This has been an update
by Dot from Belize.

Earthquake measuring 7.1 on Richter
scale shakes Belize
Dot and
Rose were shaken out of their beds at about 2:30 AM Wednesday morning by a
7.2 earthquake off the coast of Belize. Damage was minor to the Cayo
District, but other
areas received damage. Thank God no one
in Belize was killed.
There were a lot of Structual damage in areas like Monkey River. About a week later there was an after schock of about 5.2 on the Richter scale.
Update from Dot and Rose - June 1,
2009
Belize is so close to the equator, that
it gets very hot and humid here. The water supply and no we don’t drink it come
from a well high on a hill out back. It takes a bit for the water to feel cool
at all as the pipes are that close to the surface. But it feels nice and if we
can we will shower three times a day and cool Shawna, our Doberman, off in the
tub once a day.
We are very busy all of the time. Rose
and I helped out by going on a trip with about two hundred children to the
Belize zoo and to a place, called old Belize, which is located on the outskirts
of Belize city. They gave a guided tour of the exhibit which tell a history of
Belize starting with the Mayans arrival in Belize. They were one of the first to
settle here. Then they went on from
that point to other people who settled later on in Belize. That included
Garifuna, Kekchi Indians (originated from Mexico), Belize Creole (there ancestry
were slaves from Africa brought in by
the British) The trip was very
rewarding, it also gave us a time to pray for all of the teachers and children.
We did chaperone duty, of course for these children ranging from five to eight
years of age. They were a blessing to be with.
The next thing that has been going on, is
that we have been working hard to get things to fall into place for us to have
our annual convention where seven churches come together for a time of praise
and worship. The different churches either do a skit or some kind of
presentation. Our church, Philadelphia Church, did a song and dance. All done
for the glory for the Lord.
We have had prayer time on Wednesday
nights which are held in the street of the village where we live (Tea Kettle
village). Rose and I have also been doing a lot of visiting at the hospital
where there is a great need. Just to let you know how busy we have been,
yesterday we had a couple who came to visit us that needed a to talk to be
ministered to (this is why it is so important to be among the people and build
relationships. Once you do, these opportunities will arrive). While we talking
to them for about a half hour, we got a call from someone in the village asking
us to come to there house and do a funeral for a baby that was born on
Wednesday. The mother was six months into her pregnancy and was not fully
developed. So the Lord chose to take the girl child home to be with him. So we
had excuse ourselves and take part in the funeral for the baby, and most of all
the parents. We will get back with the people that we were with and talk with as
the Lords leads.
We are still very much praying for the
building that we need to come into existence. If the heavy rain comes before we
get the foundation done, it will put us back to square one. When the heavy rains
comes here it is not like anything that have in the states. It will take all of
the foundation that we have all dug out and put the dirt back into the ditches
that were dug. So if you would please pray for that not to happen!
You see we have a three fold thing when
this building is done.
One, being, Precious
Jewels (the name of the pre-school) will have about ten children. Next! The
Precious Jewels will provide open doors for people to come and to talk and
minister to as the Lord leads. The last thing will be having different groups of
doctors and nurses to come into the village and set up clinics. They would be
able to stay in the building to have a time of rest. This will be done during
the non-school year. These ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE ARE PRAYING ABOUT.
This Sunday will be a International time
of prayer. Rose and I will be a part of it. So if you pray for us we would
greatly appreciate it. And do pray for our needs to get this building completed.
The Lord has given us the vision to come to past. But with out the funds
the dug out foundation it will be just setting there.
I you are reading this update and have
been touched by the children of Belize and believe the Lord is nudging you to
help, please go to our link How can I help? God bless you.
Update from Dot and Rose - July 23,
2009
Rose and I got up early the other morning
to cook breakfast for a youth camp that Prayer Mountain Ministries were hosting.
The campers numbered seventy five and aged from ten to eighteen years of age. We
did this beside our usual ministering. Recently sent Dennis the list of
materials needed for building Precious Jewels Pre-School along with their costs
as well as cost of labor.
The total cost
exceeds $139,000. A lot, but we have an awesome Lord. Please keep that in prayer. We
will be applying for grants, but we need all the help we can get. If the Lord
tugs at your heart for the Belizean children that this will benefit, please go
to the.How you can help link and
note on your donation that your donation
is for the pre-school. Thank you for your help.
Recent Belize News:
There is an outbreak of hemorrhagic
dengue fever, and most of the cases are reported in the Cayo District (Dot and
rose reside in Tea Kettle Village in the middle of the Cayo District). Per
telephone call with Dot on the 23rd of this month (July), there have
been 116 cases reported, so far, in the Cayo District and at least 185 cases in
all of Belize. Hemorrhagic is the most dangerous form of dengue fever and can be
fatal. Please pray for the protection of Dot and Rose as well as all
Belizeans.
Thank
you
And may the Lord
bless you

It has been so busy here with working with mission teams from the U.S. and there has been four of them back to back. Rose and I (Dot) along two other ladies have been extremely busy doing all of the meals for the teams. That is three meals a day and at least five days a week. Then at night, we have been visiting different people in the village and praying for them as well as visiting people at the hospital in Belmopan (the capital). Rose and I have also been
Working on reducing the costs of the Precious Jewels pre-school and getting the paper work showing the materials needed as well as the costs of material and labor. This includes a place for different teams of doctors and nurses to come in from the states having clinics in the village where we stay. There will also be dentist to come in at different times. For all of this to come to past we have been working very hard.
So in between time of working with the cooking for the teams, we took a couple hours each day and finally with the help of the Lord, it is a done thing! Praise be to our Lord.
On Saturdays we have been going down southern Belize and helping to do some visiting of people to invite them to the church that our church in Tea Kettle (Philadelphia Church) is building there. One week end, Rose and I even helped with the cement to in order put up the foundation. Now that was a big thing! Ounce a month we have our “grand services” which we just had that past Friday night. It is a services where all of the different churches come together and have a time praise and worship Then the pastor brings forth the Word. Prior to the services we help to prepare for it as the hosting church has to prepare something for that church and the visiting churches. This happen to be our turn. So, Rose and I made tamales and chip and dip. Then Sunday is the time of getting together at church with our weekly church meeting.
Also, since the our last update there has been five people that have passed away. We attended the wakes which took place at night. They are like what we have in the states. They have a time of singing and then there will be different people to get up and console the family. The Word of the Lord is brought fourth and then the family of the deceased will serve food for the people that came. The food comes from different people in the village. And Rose and I were some of them that helped with this preparation of the food. These wakes can go on until two in the morning or even all night in some cases. The next day is the funeral.
This is just a brief update of what is going on with Rose and myself here in Belize. I have to take the time to say that none of this would be taken place if first of all if it wasn’t for Lord and savior (and the help of those who pray and financially support). Plus I want to take the time to give big thanks to my husband, Dennis which has supported me in so many ways. He has been such a big help in getting things done in the states for us in order for the Lord work to be able go on here in Belize. Thank you my Love!
I will close this out for now but want to thank the people that have helped us with prayers and mission offerings.
May the Lord richly bless you all.
God Bless
Dennis, Dot and Rose

Hi! A short update from Dot and Rose from Tea Kettle Village here in the Cayo District of Belize, Central America where “hot and humid” is a way of life. In our update, dated July 23’rd, we were telling you about Precious Jewels Preschool.
This has been a goal of Belize outreach for sometime and is inline with our mission statement. Belize Outreach believes that focusing young minds on the truths of Jesus and Christianity as well as preparing them for primary school is a major importance. In that current event update we also stated that the cost of that preschool would be in excess of $139,000. Since then we (Rose and I) have met with those here in Belize, who will build the preschool, and have made changes to reduce the costs without sacrificing the needs of the preschool. Below are the new stats of the costs of materials and cost of construction:
Total Costs for:
Materials
Contingencies
Transportation BZ $81,783.8 ($40,891.90 US)
Total Cost for labor: BZ $40,891.90 ($20,445.95 US)
Grand Total: BZ $118,675.70 ($59,337.85 US)
As you can see, we were able to cut the cost to less than half. Not only that, as of a week ago, Rose and I, started teaching one child, using a preschool format. As of 5 October, we will have four Belizean children in our class (Yes Precious Jewels, named after the children, has started). The most we could possibly have is five do to the size of our porch attached to our little house.
When the preschool building is built we will double the size of our group. The government of Belize does not provide preschools, yet they require that the children know their alphabet and their numbers (both in English, the official language of Belize) before entering primary school. You can see why a preschool building allowing more children is so important along with the basics as well as learning about the love of Jesus.
In our update, dated June 1st, we explained the reason for having a Christian based preschool. For anyone wanting to know more about that, please read that update. Also mentioned was that we dug the ditches for the foundation for Precious Jewels Preschool. See “Photos 4” for pictures showing the actual digging.
A lot more has been going on, but will give you that in a near future update.
God bless
Dot and Rose
