 Update to Current events-June 12, 2011

Praise God Dot made it back to Belize. I was very concerned about her driving the van through Mexico. Well, back to that in  a minute!

While home, besides doing some things around the house and getting things done that needed to be done, Dot was preparing herself to go back to Belize and getting support for Precious Jewels Pre-school. We are looking for Christians that would give $10.00 a month to sponsor a child to go to pre-school (If they don’t have the money, Belize Outreach supports them out of funds we really don’t have.).

There are those who said they would do this, but we need several more donors.
Belize Outreach is a 501(C) 3 tax exempt Corporation and is registered with the IRS and will give receipts to all donors for tax purposes.

Dot made it back here to Lindale, Texas, with a van that had bad tires and a faulty rack and pinion steering unit. I spent some money (a donation from me, Dennis, to Belize Outreach) by buying four 4-ply tires (roads in Belize require 4-ply tires or you wont have tires very long) and a new rack and pinion steering unit and with the help of a kind person in Tyler, Texas, that unit was installed at a very reasonable price.

Before Dot could travel through Mexico, besides getting necessary paperwork, she had to find trustworthy people to travel with (a convoy so to speak). I want to thank Mike Stain from Huston and Belize for doing just that. A problem  came up as they were getting ready to cross over the border. They were those who didn’t want to cross where it was highly recommended (I don’t know which crossing that was). Because one of their group had gone that way recently and was robbed of his vehicle they wanted to cross at Metamorris (know doubt I spelled and probably pronounced it wrong). Dot and a few others did not feel right about going that way and parted from them and went the recommended way.

Saturday evening, Dot called me from Tea Kettle Village in the Cayo District of Belize, to let me know she got back safe. She also said that all those that went the other way got robbed, some more than once.

I will try to be more dutiful and keeping current events updated more often.
Thanks for all those who have prayed for Dot and Belize Outreach and also for all those who have supported Belize Outreach.

Dennis Weeks, Co-Director of Belize Outreach
